About

Louise Oram-Knight

Founder of Deep Dive Tech. Co-founder and CTO of HumTech. Bioinformatics MSc. Based in Cumbria.

I build the systems small businesses run on. Not advice, not a strategy deck: the actual thing, working, in your business, in weeks rather than quarters.

Most of what eats a small company's week is a job a computer should be doing. Retyping enquiries into a spreadsheet. Chasing the same three answers out of every lead. Working out on a Sunday evening which jobs are worth quoting for. I take that work off the people doing it and hand it to something that doesn't need evenings off.

I came up the long way round. Bioinformatics MSc from Glasgow, then self-taught into engineering, learning by building things that had to work on Monday. I'm a mother of four and I homeschool them, which is where most of my views on how systems should be designed actually come from: if it needs constant supervision, it isn't finished.

What I built at RESG

I was employee number two at Rural Energy Saving Grants, which went on to become the UK's #1 Trustpilot-rated ad agency. When I joined, the business ran on a spreadsheet. I sat in on sales calls until I understood the work, then built every system that replaced it: the CRM, the first database, the first server, the Python pipelines, the dashboards, the automations, the documentation for the ECO4 grant scheme.

The piece I'm proudest of is the least glamorous: a lead qualification engine that checked every property against the EPC API before anyone could book a survey. Ten minutes of manual lookup per lead, gone. Junk leads stopped at the source rather than discovered three visits later.

200+leads a week, qualified and routed automatically
95%booking rate on qualified leads
4people producing the output of fifteen

I built it all while doing sales calls with a newborn on my hip. That's the truest thing about how I work: I build systems inside the mess, while it's still happening.

"Lou was employee number two and built the engine the whole business ran on. The lead system, the automations, the dashboards, the lot. Four of us did the work of fifteen because of what she built. If Lou says she can build it, she can." Chris Silver · Founder, RESG

What I build now

Two things, and they feed each other.

HumTech, which I co-founded and where I'm CTO, is a platform for turning ad spend into revenue. I built its optimisation engine, which runs live experiments on a client's landing pages using Taguchi factorial design, genetic algorithms and Bayesian sequential testing, and its conversational AI agent, which handles enquiries, qualification and booking end to end across HubSpot and GoHighLevel.

Deep Dive Tech is where that engineering goes to work for smaller businesses, at a fixed price, on a fixed scope. Same systems, sized for a company that doesn't have a technology department and shouldn't need one.

My working stack is Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL and Anthropic's Claude models, on infrastructure I run myself. I don't resell anyone else's tool with a markup on it.

How I work with people

Fixed price, agreed before anything starts. No day rates, no hourly billing, no meter running while you think. You talk to me and to Scott, my co-founder and husband, and to nobody else: there are no account managers and no layers between you and the person writing the code.

I'll tell you when something isn't worth building. That happens more often than you'd expect, and it's cheaper for both of us than finding out in week three.

Got a job that eats your week?

Tell me what it is. If I can automate it, I'll tell you what it costs and how long it takes. If I can't, I'll tell you that too.
